Dogtra YS500 Collar Description- Best Dog Bark Collar
The YS300 is fit for dogs with medium-to-large builds up to 10 pounds. It's capable of using a vibrating feature, and because this is designed for smaller dogs, its efficacy as a product for dogs that weigh over 10 pounds isn't known.
The device features six correction degrees with two modes being the T and P.
Its battery is rechargeable, and it is a great thing as you won't need to run into a store to buy replacements. It features a lithium-ion battery, and charging time for the battery is two hours. The battery fully charged can go for up to a week.
The device won't harm your pet or any living being for the issue. It only discharges a reduced level of stimulus that provides a feeling of tingling or a type of ticklish feel.
However, for security reasons, the collar shouldn't stay on your pet dog for at least eight successive hours. The device also needs to be switched off if you're playing or tethered to your furry friend, or if you're going out of the home.

Customer Questions & Answers
Question 1:
Does this work for dogs that whine or whimper?
Answer :
It does not work on low level sound. Instead of barking my dog will whimpers at a low level to avoid any shock.
Question 2:
Can this be used on a lake where my lab jumps off the dock often?
Answer :
Our dogs have worn theirs in the ran with no problem but I would really caution you to contact the maker dogtra before fully submerging in a lake. If used this works great but if it goes off on your dog when he gets in the lake it could have a negative effect on him around water.
Question 3:
This says for medium to large breed dogs.We have a Rat Terrier and Jack Russell both weighing about 13 lbs each. Are they too small for this dog bark collar?
Answer :
The collar fits very good with extra length in the collar for our 125 lbs plus dogs. I would think the heavy duty and width of the collar may not fit a dog that small. Possibly not enough holes to tighten it down for a 14il dog too.

I Can Sleep Again..
Sanity saver! Our Doberman was e-collar trained for off leash work but instructing him to bark when in our condo was our struggle. I just was not fast enough to catch the remote for our e-collar each time he wanted to bark. We purchased this collar and just turned it to two (per our coaches suggestion according to his usual level). . .he tested it a couple of times and learned very quickly. Now we do not even turn it on, he just has to have it on (he completely understands when it is not on and will bark).
My main criticism early was there is not any low battery indicator and no means of knowing when it is fully charged.
Disclaimer: our coach made us feel a shock when we trained our dog with an e-collar so that you know what it feels like to your puppy. I suggest if you're using this you do the same.

Upon receiving the package I first read through the instructions that were very basic and easy. The collar came with some battery life and in addition, it includes this little plastic clip that you put over the bark detector, you then have a coin and then drag it across the bumpy plastic coating to simulate vibration from a bark and you may listen to the collar emit its power.
Cool my collar functions. Anyways I place my multimeter on it with the collar on its highest setting and it peaked at 315v, should be more than ample for my pure German shepherd.[read more="Read More" less="Read Less"]
Charge the collar for perhaps two hours and then the light on it goes from red (charging unfinished ) to green (charge total ). I have this on my own dog for about 4 times, taking it off when not needed and each evening. I kept the collar set in 5 and it curbed his unwanted barking when every one in the house was at school and work. Its great so far.
Then on the 5th or 6th day he starts barking and doesn't realize the shock, I check the collar by turning it off then turning it on and see no light looks like the collar is dead, I plug it in the charger and the red light comes on. After 10 hours it doesn't go green. I test it using the small plastic bit, nothing. I place it on my dog and he barks, nothing.
Go through the return procedure and opt to have a replacement, very fast and effortless. Two days after I get the replacement and place the old collar, sorry not old, broken collar (one week is not that old) in the box and ship it back to them to complete the exchange.
This new collar didn't come billed, there was no juice in it. It never did. Tried it out and it wouldn't work. Gave it another over night charging and NADA. So I am returning for my money back this time. I really enjoyed this collar for the 5/6 days it worked.[/read]

This Works Great...
I've used this off and on for 2 unique dogs with terrific chance for a decade now, and have owned a total of three of them. I've not had a collar stop functioning, and it's definitely water proof as it claims because the majority of the time before it was used outside in the Seattle area and was moist frequently.
We'd barking sensitive neighbours in our old home and this was a life saver. For the ones that think this is not humane, it only requires a couple of days or weeks of getting zapped until the puppies learn not to bark and they do not get shocked.[read more="Read More" less="Read Less"]
I purchased a new one today not because the old 10 year old one failed but since I had thrown it away. We moved into a new home and kept the dog indoors so we had no neighbour issue. Well, recently our dog has begun'bored' barking at night even though we run him daily for many miles. I attempted a muzzle, but he could still bark that on.
The first night I did not have it tight enough, or place high enough so that he barked. Afterwards I heard him yelp in the collar doing it's job. He recalls the collar out of years ago and last night we had our first night of uninterrupted sleep in months, he understood to not even attempt to bark. What bliss!
A couple of warnings, since the prongs rub their skin... simply have them wear it when you do not want them . Either when you're gone, or at night . Do not have them wear it 24 hours a day 365 days per week. I also read in one of the reviews (I believe for this particular collar ) that someone was angry they used the collar for walking the dog and it broke. Never use any bark collar to control your dog because if they pull the prongs could pierce their skin. Use another collar when walking them.
For people who complain it does not work, I would test it with the specified tester. If it does not pass, then return it as faulty and find a new one. But I need to say I have owned three of these collars rather than a single one was dead on arrival. If it passes the test but it is not stopping your dog from barking, probably you do not have it turned up , the collar is not tight enough, or you have not ensured the unit is put down by their own'adams apple'. It it gets cocked to the side the detector will be in the incorrect location.[/read]
