Electronic collars are frequently used by dog owners and coaches nowadays as a coaching system to alert their dogs to get any undesirable behaviour and to receive his attention during training. However, because of its nature, this training process is somewhat controversial and highly debatable.
But, it ought to be understood that if used correctly, an electronic collar may be a safe and effective tool to train your dog and also to promote decent behavior.
It's understandable that there are those people who oppose the use of electronic collars in training dogs, and that's why using one is a personal choice among pet owners. Additionally it is important to comprehend how everything works before deciding and making a selection.
So, how do digital collars actually work? Basically, this sort of training collar uses a radio signal to provide a mild stimulus that's sent through a transmitter or a remote controller.
The transmitter sends the stimulation to a receiver, that's the collar worn by the dog. It merely aims to get your dog's attention and refocus him through training.

Customer Questions & Answers
Question 1:
Will the ET-302TS work well for bigger dogs around 50-60 pounds?
Answer:
Yes! My dog is around 25 lbs and I cut about 10 inches off of the adjustable collar-almost enough to make another collar. I have only had to use the correction levels up to 26, so there are plenty of levels higher for those bigger or more stubborn dogs. I've been working with a dog trainer to help me give the correction at the right time and used a leash for the first 3 weeks. Using the leash helped me guide my dog into the preferred behavior immediately after the correction so she was not confused as to why she was just corrected. It has completely transformed my dog's behavior and I'm very pleased with the product. If this is your fist electronic collar please make sure you get some tips or work with a trainer. If you do not guide your dog into the behavior you want you will get a very anxious dog afraid to move or do anything. That was my only complaint with this product-in needed some tips for newbies like me. You will love your "new" dog!
Question 2:
Guys.. Im really keen to buy this product but I wanted to know if this can be used for a Golden Retriever dog (85lb)...
Answer:
Yes, although described as a "mini" this e-collar will work for most dogs if used correctly. You might need to shave a small patch for the collar to make contact. If you haven't done so, please watch the leerburg videos on using the e-collar, particularly the one by Micheal Ellis. The dog needs to learn behavior that stops the stimulation. If introduced correctly, i.e., the dog learns that he has control of the stimulation, the e-collar works for most dogs.I have used this collar on several large dogs including several Golden Retrievers and Labradors with success.Peace and Be Well
Question 3:
When used properly as a training tool, can you eventually get to the point where the dog no longer needs to wear the collar?
Answer:
Depends on the dog. Inside the house he doesnt need it, or out in yard. My dog has changed in such a great way because of this. I think it has his commands stuck permanently. I mean- I always work with him on and off(he was a maniac). One thing I wont take it off for a long time is when we are hiking and off leashing trails and such. Because my dog has super high prey drive and this seriously is 100 percent recall. To me that is the joy in having a dog- when you can count on them to come back!!

Ben
This is by far the best collar I've ever used.
At 7 months old that he almost out weighed me and had 0 training. He would eliminate the photographs from the wall and eat them. I never thought I would have a shock collar. All my prior dogs are a rewarding experience to train and I am experienced with difficult dogs also, slice of cake, right? . Yeah. Well after 4 weeks of my bawling and he is destroying everything despite mark training and a great deal of crate time, it became time to rethink a shock collar. After a lot of research along with the recommendation of Leerberg I depended on an Educator Mini.[read more="Read More" less="Read Less"]Nothing miniature about this bad boy. I didn't think I would have it in me to jolt him, but allow me to tell you what, when he jumped up on the kitchen counter and started eating my supper, with me standing right there. When he opened the bathroom cabinet and began spreading trash around, Jesus was watching. When he started off the sofa in an attempt to consume the ceiling fan, Jesus wept. This collar (with good usage and training blah blah blah) turned water to wine. Seriously. It has been a year since I purchased this collar and it has shaped him into one of the most rewarding dogs I have had. He very rarely needs the collar anymore, but sometimes he wants to get his faith restored and gets to wear it for a day or 2. I have not shocked him , just putting it on him using the vibrate feature is sufficient to remind him that Jesus is always watching. I have actually been using it on our deaf dog for a means to remember him from the lawn, he associates the vibrate with a reward rather than punishment and gets a treat when he comes back to the house. Dual use. Very content.[/read]

Highly recommend!
I was given a 6 month old Doberman who'd been through multiple owners since he had been"high energy unruly, uncontrollable." That may sound like most dogs but that went to the verge of aggression towards individuals who tried to tell him , or off if he had been on the sofa. If I walked and we came across another dog, he would lose it to the point of turning me if I controlled him in any fashion. I could see he had plenty of potential. He had no clue how to behave. Naturally starting this procedure at 6 weeks had its complications. He wasn't a tiny pup that could be pushed around. This made enormous differences but he learned very fast that when he was off the leash that he could do as he pleased, dividing the house, chasing the cat. This collar fixed that nearly over night. With careful use it's a miracle worker. [read more="Read More" less="Read Less"]You absolutely positively have to have a strategy and work this in to the way you train though. This alone won't fix your problems but it has enormous possibilities. I can make him put down in front of them, walk to the other side of the lawn, and call him to me, no problem. Note , this is through careful instruction, not just shocking the dog as you get mad. 95 percent of the time the vibrate or tap button handles the circumstance. That's only a vibrate sensation on his throat, no shock. Both shock buttons are a god send when the puppy reaches an elevated condition, for example decides he will come at you, attack another individual, animal, etc.. A fast pulse on the increase (With just a note, I have tested both amounts on myself, they do not feel great but they won't kill anyone) and he sits . He's learned and will not need that . No longer always being concerned about what he is going to do next. Like I said, this is a superb tool to have available, particularly to take training to another level. **Update at 8 months from purchase**: The collar has worked great so far but in the previous week or so the range on it all of the sudden dropped to approximately 30 ft or so. Called the company and they're sending a new replacement using a prepaid shipping label to ship the old one back, no questions asked.

A great tool to have in your kit, especially for smart dogs unruly dogs!
Works great. She would escape range of her other collar and I would have to run around looking everywhere for her nearly daily. We'd had it when she got picked up about a 1/4 mile down the street by the highway. We don't have that problem now and she's learned to stay close because she can not get out of range. The one thing I wish it had was an audible tone. It is fine with the beep to have the ability to assess how far off they are. The customer support is also excellent.
