Question 2:
I have a 5lb dog will it work on him?
Answer:
Even though it is small and light it will work better on a breed with a thicker or broader neck. I find it difficult to work on my 4 pound Yorkshire Terrier because her neck is too small and both the electrodes don’t touch her neck parallely.

Finally something that works..
I am a professional trainer and utilize e collars. To my dismay that the doxie that came a week ago, was just 5.5 pounds, not ten pounds, and screamimg loudly enough to break the gates of hell. I first made plenty of life adjustments for the adorable thing, then used this. When used correctly results are magnificent. Miss moppet is silent, comes from 100 feet off leash and is well mannered. Doesn't jump up and will drop the toy today.I really didn't believe I could get a collar small enough for this particular dog. This collar is just a little big for her, and it works. Batteries are standard, not speacle, which is fine. I didn't buy on any online store, I couldn't locate it in the time I was having a panic attack, but will purchase in the future. If used carefully its a excellent tool, this dog isn't a creampuff.Update, I've bought three of them from here. Occasionally the switch beneath the batteries has to be lifted for good connection.

Glad I spent the $$$ on this!
I have a 12lb little toy poodle and normally he is great, except in the morning when someone is preparing to leave the home. He normally barks when we put our shoes on and does not stop until the door shuts behind us. This wakes up anyone in the home who is trying to sleep in. I feel bad with a shock collar, but this has gone on for quite a long time and I had a solution. I bought two others from here and even though they were recorded as being for smaller dogs, they were both way too large for him.[read more="Read More" less="Read Less"]
Eventually I saw this one and arranged and it's the correct size for a small lap dog (miniature, light-weight, and largely unintrusive). It even includes two replacement mini-prongs which you could use for dogs the size of my dog and those mini-prongs make it so that you can practically leave the collar on for an elongated time period.
Before placing it on my dog, I tried it in my hands to find out what the feeling would be. Pressing 1 gives a little shock like static electricity. However, pressing two was stronger and"jolting" for want of a better word. #2 was sufficient for me, so I did not try 3 or 4. My wife tried it on her hands and 1 bothered her enough that she did not wish to try any other degrees.[/read]

Perfect training device
I don't think I would try 3 or 4 because two provides a powerful enough feeling and he gets quiet immediately.
For those who have a barker/yapper, this collar will surely get their attention.
I believe if used correctly together with consistent obedience training a shock collar is a excellent tool- as long as its not abused, and isn't a replacement for quality coaching. Afterwards, simply just picking up the remote or placing the collar on the dog will immediately change his mindset. Rarely is a jolt needed once appropriate training has been discovered!
I hunted high and low and I eventually went with this version. Pretty pricey at $150, but when it functions nicely, shock collars are a terrific investment for you and your dog.[read more="Read More" less="Read Less"]
The shock mechanism itself is smaller, but it's still not as small as I want. But, my little psycho Min Pin didn't have any issues with it around his throat. Any larger and I wouldn't be happy. The collar has holes each 3/4" or so to have the ability to cut it to length.
The remote and collar seems to be constructed well and I'm content with its performance. The first lower 3 configurations did not seem to phase him till I hit him with the most powerful zap. That worked! After that, all three additional lower settings still got his attention as he immediately realized what was happening. The space on the transmitter functions over 100 feet. I am quite satisfied with this and has relieved a great deal of stress in training.
Bear in mind a shock collar isn't an answer to each problem. I just use it when we're out and our dog wants to go outside its borders, crawl under the fence or attempts to jump up on the rear door. It is not supposed to be on him all of the time- just when a needed reinforcement of these principles are justified. An obedient and balanced dog won't need a shock collar and will only require minor correcting when the dog learns his borders and limitations. This is a superb product and I would buy it again. With care it should last and will be used hardly once training success is reached.[/read]
