Our dogs are among the most beloved creatures in our lives; they usually are our best friends and family members and we treat them as one. With a big dog it is especially important to train him well, so he knows who the leader is and how to act well. Many remote dog training collars aren’t intended for large pets. The Petsafe Deluxe Remote Trainer for Large Dogs is the best way to have your pet under control even on long distances.

Customer Questions & Answers
Question 1:
Is this the right size to buy this for my 7 months old boxer puppy?
Answer :
I will definitely go with another as I have a 23 pounds old boston terrier and I have to use it on very high setting for him to work.
Question 2:
Is it compatible for a pommerian?
Answer :
Yes. But you need to order a smaller collar from Seller by sport dog and you can cut it to the size you need and you will also need a hole puncher. I use my collar on my toy Chihuahua which is 10 inches long and six inches tall.
Question 3:
What age is appropriate to start using this shock collar?
Answer :
You can start at 6 months of age I did that for my Cavachon and used it for couple of weeks. If your dog stops listening you can always give a refresher every 3 months.

A changed dog - this collar was a lifesaver.
My pet was having some trouble. However, she wasn't knowing"No!" . The entire idea confused her. . We were beginning to get frustrated. Matters were getting ruined, people were getting jumped and nibbled, food was being stolen. It was complete chaos. After trying other training approaches (positive reinforcement, clicker) and even raising her everyday exercise her behaviour did not improve. I really believed it was because she didn't know what we wanted from her.[read more="Read More" less="Read Less"]
This collar has been suggested to me by an animal cop I met in the pet shop. I had been wary of shock collars due to all of the bad press they get. Well, if he's suggesting it should not be inhumane, right? This one had lots of configurations. I made sure to check it out on myself before placing it on my puppy - I didn't want to subject her to anything I discovered too painful. It is L5 for anyone wondering. When triggered, the system causes her to walk away from whatever behaviour she's exhibiting. She doesn't yelp or cry or seem hurt. It only distracts her. And that's just what I needed from this apparatus.
Could someone possibly hurt their creature with it? Probably. It's important to read the directions to locate the appropriate match and level for your dog. If you are unsure about the degree of shock test it on your own.
The yellow button provides the amount you selected. The +2 button provides two levels above that amount. I guess the +2 button will be appropriate in an emergency situation where you really needed the dog's attention along with the normal level wasn't effective. However, I've not needed it yet.
The green button only emits a sound. It is actually our favorite quality of this collar. Once she hears the sound she knows to come find me and have a seat. It's terrific for the dog park or getting her indoors.
After using this collar her behaviour and her demeanor has completely altered. Previously she didn't understand why she kept getting in trouble and she had been scared that she'd mess up. I know, I am probably reading too much into my dogs behaviour, I apologize. After using the collar she's lightened up - she wags her tail almost constantly and constantly looks happy.[/read]

Great for Small Dogs, Would Recommend. Needs More Strength for Larger Dogs.
This is one of the only electronic training devices I could find for smaller dogs at a fair price. It wasn't one of the cheap ones from other states that may or may not result in unintended or excessive pain to my two year old Jack Russel Terrier. She's a smaller Jack Russel and it fits here fantastic. The only modification I needed to make of any sort was cutting off a few of the additional slack. In the bottom level my wife and I could hardly feel the shock in any respect. At about half way up its awkward and generally where I abandon it. I enjoy the +2 button for those times she is quite stubborn. We use this to assist with a problem she's where she believes everything is her distance. It will work and for them most part, if she growls, a simple beep in the gadget is sufficient for her to demonstrate a change in mindset. I knocked it down one star because even at the maximum setting, it still doesn't offer a great deal of shock. Additionally, it isn't rechargeable, which would be an additional plus. This won't hurt your Poodle on its lowest setting. My dog does not even respond at the setting Low1.

Love it! Stopped the barking with just one tone!
We purchased this thing for one reason only - to receive our Labrador to stop barking outside, forcing us along with the neighbours mad. Our results are probably a little unique because we use the PefSafe Containment system so our dog is accustomed to an electronic collar. We have had good success with that fencing system with three dogs today; love it and today we adore the remote trainer. I put it on her last night and let her out, which often starts the barking marathons and sure enough, she began. I stepped out and cried for her to COME, and of course she did not. I pushed the noise signal just on the distant, and she instantly came home happily. She did not even take a correction. This morning when I let her out, I made sure she saw the collar and put it on her along with her fence collar, and she went out to do her regular morning drifting without even one bark. When I went outside and called for her to come she came indoors with the first telephone. Now, again, she's used to an electronic collar so if that is new for your dog you might not get such immediate results, but I can not say enough great things about PetSafe and their merchandise. They WORK. There are more economical remote trainers, but I stuck with the brand which has worked for us with the fencing, and I am glad I did.
